If you answered YES to any of these questions, then one of our Mathematical Mindset & Skills Learning program is the solution to empowering and maximizing your Child's learning outcomes in Math.

Created by a certified Intermediate/Senior Math Educator & Mindset Coach with almost 20 years of classroom experience teaching within one of the largest public school boards in Ontario, this interactive online learning program is purposed to connect learners to their Inner Genius and sharpen their Mathematical skills by merging the Science of Mathematical Learning, the Brain, and Mindset so that they are empowered to optimize their learning outcomes in Mathematics & beyond.

Our Learning programs are basd on a hybrid model of instruction that includes virtual small group classes and private 1-on-1 sessions for Remediation or Accelaration in Intermediate and Senior Mathematics aligned with the Ontario Mathematics curriculum and the North American Common Core Curriculum. Each program will have a maximum of 10 learners enrolled, and meet twice per week for 60-minutes; with the option of private 1-on-1 sessions for those learners who would like to deepen their understanding of specific concepts.

Following are the Learning Programs we are offering for our 2024 Summer Camp:

4-Weeks Math Foundations Program - (Grade 7 and 8)

The objective of this program is to strengthen basic numeracy and algebra skills as these form the foundation for Senior Math courses. Mastering these Fundamental skills is imperative in order for students to optimize their learning outcomes in the senior Maths courses they will take in Grades 9 – 12. The Intermediate Maths Fundamentals program will meet twice weekly for 60 minutes and will cover:

• Fractions (adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing)
• Integers
• Order of Operations
• Basic Algebra & Solving Simple Equations
• Exponents & Exponent Rules

8-Weeks Grade 9 Preparation Program

The Grade 9 Preparation Program is designed to ensure that students entering Grade 9 in September 2024 are prepared for high school math and the new de-streamed curriculum. The objective is for students to master the key skills they need to know before entering Grade 9 in order to maximize their academic achievement when they take the course. The units of study will include:

• Numeracy
• Geometry
• Algebra
• Ratios
• Rates and Proportions
• Linear Functions
• Financial Literacy
• Data Management

The Grade 9 Preparation program will also cover the new concepts in the new Grade 9 de-streamed curriculum (excluding coding).

8-Weeks Grade 11 U Prep/Algebra 1 Program -

The Algebra 1 Program is a Remediation or Acceleration program that covers the Grade 10 Academic and Grade 11 University Ontario & North American Common core Math curriculum. It is designed for students who have either taken the Grade 10D or Grade 11U Math courses in Ontario, or the Algebra 1 North American Common Core course, and would like to strengthen their understanding/skills in order to prepare for the next course level in the new academic year; or for students who will be taking these courses in the future and would like to master the key skills they need to know prior to taking the course. This program will cover topics including;

• Linear Functions
• Linear Systems
• Geometry
• Quadratics
• Trigonometry
• Radicals
• Exponential Functions
• Transformations
• Trigonometric Functions

The pedagological framework for all of our programs uses an evidence-based approach that merges the science of Mathematics education, the brain and mindset, known as Mathematical Mindset Coaching. This cutting edge pedagological approach teaches students how How to Learn Math in an empowered and proactive way by cultivating a Mathematical Growth Mindset . Using the findings of innovatie research in the field of Mathematics Education and Brain Science, this approach focuses on the beliefs and relationship that learners have with their experience of learning Math, and provides information and strategies for how to overcome limiting beleifs about 'math ability' , how to decrease or eliminate test anxiety, and how to improve brain function in the areas of focus and memory. In particular, learners are empowered to Unleash their Inner Genius after learning about the 8 Fundamental Principles of a Mathematical Mindset and the 6 Student Attitudes that must be cultivated in order to successfuly learn Mathematcial concepts to very high levels and optimize their learning outcomes in any Maths course they take.

Through interactive and innovative strategies, learners are able to learn how to cultivate these 6 Student Attitudes within themselves, sharpen their number sense and math literacy skills, and learn how to empower their mathematical learning experience so that they are able to level up their achievement in any Mathematics course that they take.

Meet the Teacher - S. Charles-Herrera, B.A., M.A., B.Ed.

Each learning program will be facilitated by certified Educator & Mindset Coach, Ms. Sanya Charles-Herrera (Ms. Sanya), who is the Founder & Director of Thrive Holistic Learning Centre. Ms. Sanya is certified with the Ontario College of Teachers in Intermediate/Senior Mathematics Education and has 20 years of classroom teaching experience with the Toronto District School Board and as a Youth Mentor within the Greater Toronto Area. Using findings of innovative reserach in Mathematics Education, Neuroscience & Mindset, Ms. Sanya specializes in merging the Science of Mathematical Learning, the Brain & Mindset to connect students to their Inner Genius so that they are empowered to Optimize their learning outcomes in Mathematics and beyond.
