Facilitator

Paige Mathison is the founder of Another Chapter Counselling in Kelowna, BC, and is a skilled facilitator of laughter therapy. Paige combines her background in clinical counselling with stand-up comedy, offering a unique and enjoyable therapeutic experience. Her sessions blend mental health insight with humour, creating a space where laughter aids in both joy and healing.

Discussion Topics:

1. What are the benefits of laughter?

2. Understanding your personalized sense of humour.

3. Ways to add more laughter into your life.

4. Learning ways to tune into pleasant sensations & emotions.

5. Barriers that impact our ability to laugh or embrace laughter.

All of these topics have flexibility for learning, discussing and integrating! Based on the group dynamics, the facilitator will try to guide the talking points toward what the collective whole is interested in focusing on.


What to Bring:

(Items NOT required, but bring by choice if you’d like!)

- Cozy Items (You are welcome to bring comfort items if you like to wrap up in a blanket or sit on a pillow, etc.)

- Yoga Mat – I have yoga mats AND chairs available for seating, but know some like to bring their own.

- Notebook & Pen – If you want to take notes, please do! (I also have LOTS of pens if anyone forgets!)

- Mug or Water Bottle: I have paper cups for use of tea and/or water, but if you’d like to bring your own, feel free to!

Frequently asked questions

Where do I park?

There is FREE “Visitor Parking” for up to 3 hours around the Landmark District. Be sure to not park in any “Tenant” spaces, as the tickets are expensive and cannot be waved.

What are the risks?

Yes! Even though laughter is something that occurs naturally, there can be some potential side effects to be aware of, including, but not limited to: - Abdominal pain or tightness. - Abdominal hernia. - Asthma attack trigger. - Incontinence. - Headache. - Inhale foreign objects.

Who should not participate?

Not appropriate for a pregnant person or someone who has recently had abdominal surgery. If you have any medical issues related to cardiac or abdominal surgeries or pain, please consult with your medical professional before joining.

Is this laughter yoga?

Some of the exercises used can be similar to those used in Laughter Yoga. That said, Laughter Therapy is more focused toward how and why laughter helps, ways to integrate it into your life and connecting with others who have the same goals toward more pleasant experiences. (mixed with laughter!)

Refund Information

Refunds (not including Eventbrite fees) are available up to 7 days before the event or if event is cancelled by the facilitator. Transfer of ticket is available, as well. Email info@anotherchapter.ca if you require more details.

Minimum Number of Participants

We need at least 3 people plus the facilitator to gain the most out of the Laughter Therapy experience. If not enough participants have signed up, you will receive an email at a minimum of 24 hours in advance. If this occurs, you are invited to spend that time watching a funny movie, show or video.
