About this event

  • 1 hour

Join us on Friday, May 17 at 1:00PM for an exploration of virtual site visits in built environments education.

Site visits are an incredibly important aspect of built environments education. They provide opportunities for experiential place-based learning, which is crucial for future practicioners who need to engage with contextual and spatial information in their learning. However, many challenges prevent educators from providing these experiences to students. As a result, virtual site visits have emerged as an engaging supplement and alternative to physical site visits. Virtual site visits allow students to access site-related content remotely, without physical presence. In doing so, these virtual experiences are transforming the way in which students and educators engage with site.

This session will unpack the role of VSVs in contemporary built environments education. During this hour showcase, we will:

  • Explore the role of VSVs in facilitating equitable and expansive learning opportunities.
  • Showcase a series of VSVs implemented by subject coordinators, demonstrating the diverse applications in teaching and learning.
  • Engage in a forward-looking discussion on the integration of VSVs with physical site visits, contemplating the future of hybrid learning experiences.

We welcome all interested staff to join us in this exploratory session.
