Decoding Drought Management Engagement Sessions: Vancouver Island

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food and The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship are pleased to invite you to join us for a community learning opportunity at one of the following upcoming Decoding Drought Management Engagement Sessions:

COWICHAN – April 18, 2024 from 2:00 pm-4:30 pm PT

• Vancouver Island University 2011 University Way, Duncan, B.C.

The purpose of the Decoding Drought Management Engagement Session being held is to improve awareness of the supports available to area producers to prepare for and reduce the impacts of drought. The engagement sessions will help build understanding within the agriculture sector about B.C.’s legislative framework for water management, including regulatory tools, and decision-making under the Water Sustainability Act (WSA).

What to expect?

Decoding Drought Management Under the Water Sustainability Act (WSA)

Presentation and discussion led by the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship

• How are water management decisions made during a drought? What information is considered and what tools are used?

Drought Preparedness and Response: What is the role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food?

Presentation and discussion led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food

• What drought resources and supports are offered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and what role does the Ministry play before and during drought?

Community Engagement Session

Small group, solutions-oriented discussions

• What information and tools do you need to prepare for and manage drought?
• How can we work together as individuals and communities to prepare for and respond to drought?
