About this event

Channel Man - Col's Story

In 1977 Col Smith burst onto the world surfing stage a near unknown. He arrived in Hawaii with unseen and unproven surfboards, blowing away the competition in the Pro Class Trials. In doing so he became the first “goofy-foot” to win a surfing contest at Sunset Beach. His contributions to Channel Bottom design and innovation are immeasurable, as was his impact on surfing and his peers. An impact that is still felt today.

Featuring interviews from:

Mark Richards, Tom Carroll, Wayne Lynch, Terry Richardson, Michael Ho, Rory Russell, Nick Carroll, Derek Hynd, Phil Fraser, Wayne Bartholomew, Ian Byrne and more…
