Dear River Keepers,

We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt invitation to you for a day of community, nature, and stewardship. In Partnership with Alicia Richins from The Climateverse, we will share inspiring stories to combat climate change anxiety.

Everyone is welcome to join us on Sat June/8/2024 from 10am-12pm, Weston Lions Park. Climateverse tales begins @ 12pm - 1:30pm

Storytelling for the Future of the Humber River: Come with us on a trip into @theclimateverse where we’ll imagine and explore possible futures for the Humber River watershed!

Through writing and crafts, we’ll ground ourselves in our appreciation for the river before exploring different present-day drivers of change (like our clean-ups!), and using those to imagine and discuss potential future scenarios.
Then we’ll use some prompts to craft stories, poems, paintings or songs depicting the futures we want, with time to share/perform for the rest of the group. Writing and craft supplies provided.

About The Climateverse: The Climateverse is a multimedia storytelling initiative, focused on hopeful and optimistic narratives about the future.

Our first channel is a platform reporting the news live from parallel dimensions where humanity is actually taking decisive and transformational action on our intersecting crises of climate change and social justice.

As a challenge to the narrative of despair and helplessness, the Climateverse seeks to transform our collective climate anxiety into hope as we focus on the kinds of changes we could make today, to claim more sustainable, resilient, inclusive and just futures for all.

Our host, Alicia (she/they) is the founder of The Climateverse, and has a background in sustainability and climate justice facilitation and consulting. Raised in Trinidad and Tobago, she has called Tkaronto home for the past twelve years. The Climateverse is her return to her creative child-like self, with which she hopes to seed the radical imagination required to change the world for the better.

Raffle fun: Don't miss your chance to win a free bike tune-up courtesy of Cheels Wheels & exclusive coupons from Pastables!

Eco-Friendly Tips:
To ensure we leave only footprints, please remember to bring:
1) Your personal reusable water bottle
2) Reusable gardening gloves (though we'll provide essential cleanup supplies, bringing your own gloves helps reduce waste)
3) Before the event, take a moment to review Ravine Engagement Tips (link in bio)

Waste Collection:
If possible, help us track our impact by placing collected litter bags back at the sign in table near the city bins (not inside) for weighing. Snap before and after photos of your cleanup area and share with us via email or Instagram @humberriverpals or tag us using the hashtag #humberriverpals.

Let's come together, make a difference, and celebrate our beautiful planet! For any inquiries, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ana, Harsh, or Ikinori. If you prefer not to be photographed, kindly let our organizers know.

Thank you for supporting our vision and helping us protect the Humber River! This project is supported by the City of Toronto through Live Green Toronto and the Neighbourhood Climate Action Grants program. Live Green Toronto and Neighbourhood Climate Action Grants program
