Workshop Summary:

Capture stunning night sky photos from a remote location with pristine dark skies that’s only 90 minutes from Medicine Hat or 2 hours from Calgary! During this special workshop, I will help you capture amazing photos that highlight the beauty of the Milky Way, stars, galaxies, and the unique landscape. A great introduction to Astro-photography for beginners, and an excellent location for experienced photographers to take their craft to the next level.

Workshop Includes:

Evening/Night session: (7pm to midnight)

- Starts a few hours before sunset - through midnight (or later)


Post Processing Session (Optional Add-on): 11am - 2pm Saturday Aug 10, 2024

- Post processing the following morning, Seven Persons, AB, classroom

- Post processing session via Teams is also an option

- Post processing training using Sequator, Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom Classic

- Discuss the best techniques for detailing with noise

- Hands on training with your images from the prior evening

- Laptop computer with Photoshop or Lightroom installed is required to participate


Suggested Equipment:

1. Tripod - A sturdy tripod is an absolute necessity for this outing!

2. Interchangeable lens camera - most all-in-one cameras don't have the controls necessary for this kind of photography

3. Large aperture wide-angle lens (f/2.8 or larger, 24mm or wider)

4. Red headlamp or red filter for your flashlight. Headlamps are preferred to flashlights to keep your hands free.

5. Cable or remote shutter release

6. Option to try a fully modified Canon EOSR camera with filters, lens and tripod. (Additional charge of $125)
