About this event

  • 3 hours

Join us at Align for an exciting hands-on collaborative workshop as we team together to develop our skills in taking a multidisciplinary approach to Body Alignment, with a special focus on the spine-to-foot connection.

Instead of the typical Professional Development seminar with a key presenter, this unique workshop is specifically designed to extract new opportunities from integrating collaborative care from experts across the MSK fileds. Each attendee will be sharing their experience and expertise among colleagues of different professional backgrounds.

Who is it for?

Anyone in the MSK healthcare space involved with biomechanics – human movement & body alignment.

✓ Athletic Therapists

✓ Chiropodists

✓ Chiropractors

✓ Kinesiologists

✓ Massage Therapists

✓ Osteopaths

✓ Pedorthists

✓ Physiotherapists

✓ Strength and Conditioning Specialists

What is the format?

Therapists and Clinicians will be organized into 5 groups. Each group will have a mix of different professionals but with similar years of professional experience. For example, there may be a group with a Chiropractor, Pedorthist, RMT, Osteopath and Physiotherapist, all with 4-7 years of experience.

Each group will select one member to be the “patient”.

75 min assessment

A medical history, postural assessment, movement analysis, and special/functional tests will be conducted by the group of remaining HCPs. Each HCP will contribute to the assessment adding their area of expertise. This will involve a fair bit of open communication, collaboration, and explanation. Specifics to tissue load capacity, biomechanics from spine to foot, and joint & muscle testing will be explored. Once the assessment is completed, the key significant findings are brought together and discussed among the group.

45 min treatment

Based on the key findings, a comprehensive treatment will be developed in a collaborative environment, where each group will use the respective expertise of each HCP. Consideration to chronological care, anticipated outcomes, and contraindications should be discussed. Ideally, each HCP will have a few minutes to demonstrate their treatment approach.

10 min presentation

Each group will then present their assessment and treatment findings to the entire group, with a focus on collaborative care and how the different professions compliment one another to optimize treatment outcomes.
