The Australian Society for Mathematical Psychology presents the Symposium on Socially influenced cognition: Reasoning and communication in online environments.
This symposium will showcase the research of leading Australian psychological and cognitive scientists working on reasoning, communication, and influence in online environments. Presenters and topics include:
Prof. Andrew Perfors & Dr. Keith Ransom - Sampling assumptions, inference, and effects on reasoning in social situations.
A.Prof Piers Howe - The Truth About “The Truth” - Investigating the accuracy of fact-checking.
A.Prof Nicolas Fay - Manufacturing Misinformation: Are falsehoods more persuasive than truths?
A.Prof Carolyn Semmler - Mapping conversational trajectories of influence online through integration of large scale and fine-grained methods.
Registration is free for the symposium, however, tickets are limited.
The symposium will conclude at 1pm, to be followed by an opportunity to have lunch together (self-funded).
From 3pm there will be an optional (AUD $20) 2hr walking architecture tour around Sydney Harbour and the city centre, led by a talented architect and academic.
The tour will finish at The Rocks, offering the oldest and still trendiest pubs in town, for drinks and dinner (self-funded).
