Peru

While the mountain town of Peru, VT, has a quiet character, a full calendar of events and things to do thrives in the surrounding valleys. The region's character is split between the arts-focused village of Dorset and the bustling commercial hub of Manchester. This area's social rhythm is deeply tied to the seasons, attracting visitors for summer arts festivals, fall foliage, and winter sports.

• A typical weekend day can start with a visit to a local farmers market, like the year-round Dorset Farmers Market on Sundays or the seasonal Manchester Farmers Market.
• The area's primary cultural anchor is the Dorset Playhouse, which hosts the professional Dorset Theatre Festival each summer and community productions during the rest of the year.
• For a more casual evening, Union Underground in Manchester Center offers live music and trivia nights in its restaurant and bar setting.
