State Association of Texas Pioneers

Today, individuals who are descendants of ancestors who were in Texas at least 100 years ago, individuals who are interested in preserving the History of Texas, and business, civic and educational groups meeting the same criteria are all members of the State Association of Texas Pioneers. Anyone interested in preserving and fostering the aims of the State Association of Texas Pioneers is invited to join from anywhere in Texas. The Pioneers’ original chapter is located in San Antonio. Plans are underway to extend the opportunity to start chapters in other Texas cities.

The State Association of Texas Pioneers is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that sponsors and supports educational and museum activities in Texas. After being a part of the Pioneers Memorial Hall Museum at 3805 Broadway in San Antonio for over seventy years, the Association has moved part of their exhibit to the Pioneer Village Museum and the Riverside Museum located in Gonzales, Texas. The Pioneers continue to support the Witte Museum, which will operate the Pioneer, Old Trail Drivers and Texas Ranger Memorial Museum as a part of their South Texas Heritage Center.

Fiesta San Antonio is a ten-day celebration centered around San Jacinto Day, April 21st. Since 1919, the Pioneers have sponsored the Patriotic and Historical Ball on the first weekend of Fiesta in tribute to America’s military, King Antonio of the Texas Cavaliers, heroes of the Alamo and San Jacinto, as well as Fiesta royalty. The Honorary Lady Chairman presides over the Pioneers’ Fiesta events including sponsoring a carriage in the Battle of Flowers Parade.

The Pioneers sponsor other social events during the year as well as promoting Texas History education.
