Pamela D. Marshall delivered her first speech at the age of three, and since then, her voice has carried a message of courage, compassion, and conviction. The 11th of 13 children, she grew up on a farm in West Tennessee, where she learned the values of faith, family, and perseverance. Those early lessons have shaped a lifetime of service, storytelling, and leadership.
Pamela is the author of The Art of Forgiveness – An Expression of Peace, I Named Him Forgiveness – A Journey of Acceptance and Healing, and the Peace Takes Practice – A 52 Week Journal & Workbook, along with two children’s books inspired by her grandson, BJ: BJ and The Majestic Forgiveness Tree and BJ’s Big Mission – Healing Easie Turtle, Heals Earth. Through her books, workshops, and her Peace Takes Practice Movement, Pamela empowers individuals, families, corporations, and schools to embrace forgiveness as a daily practice and to walk in peace with purpose.
A gifted communicator, Pamela has been Keynoting since the age of 17 after winning three scholarship pageants in one year. At 19, she became the youngest television news anchor at WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tennessee. Her journalism career spanned more than 25 years, later leading to historic firsts in public policy and leadership, including serving as the first woman and first African American Vice President of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the first woman and first African American Chief of Staff for the Shelby County Mayor’s Office, the first woman and first African American Executive Director of the Memphis Area Association of Governments. In 2024, she also became the first African American woman candidate for Alachua County Sheriff, running on the platform “Mental Illness is Not a Crime”, a commitment she continues today in her advocacy for incarcerated and homeless individuals living with mental illness.
Pamela was honored to be interviewed for Under Secretary of Rural Development with the U.S. Department of Agriculture during the President Barack Obama Administration.
In 2023, Pamela was also honored in her hometown of Jackson, Tennessee, when the Mayor proclaimed July 20th as Pamela D. Marshall Day and presented her with the Key to the City.
On stage, Pamela embodies the voices of freedom fighters and cultural giants, including Fannie Lou Hamer, Ida B. Wells, and Zora Neale Hurston, reminding audiences of the power of resistance, resilience, and truth-telling.
Pamela is also the founder of R.U.A.C.H. At The WELLness Center, dedicated to spiritual restoration, holistic health, and community empowerment. A certified Bikram Yoga Instructor, Yoga-2-Life Coach, and Y.O.G.A. for Youth Teacher, she shares the healing power of yoga and mindfulness with children and families through her Yoga Is 4Me2 Project.
Her creative works also include producing The Timbuktu Report, which explores untold African and African American history, and she also hosts the Peace & Healing Thru Forgiveness podcast on her WELLness RadioTV shows on YouTube and Apple Podcasts.
Above all, Pamela is a devoted wife and mother to her son, Brennan, and “Beanie” to her grandson, BJ. She lives in Florida with her husband, Scott, continuing her mission to inspire healing, resilience, and Peace, one story, one practice, one breath at a time.
