Marion F. Walker Queen’s Project
The Marion F. Walker Queen’s Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing childhood literacy and awarding scholarships to college students.
History: Marion F. "Queen" Walker, a retired school teacher, dedicated over 30 years of her life to educating students in the Akron Public Schools as an elementary school teacher. She was deeply passionate about childhood literacy and frequently extended her teaching beyond the classroom, helping children in her community learn to read.
In 2023, following her passing, her granddaughter Lannetta V. Knotts took the lead in establishing the Marion F. Walker Queen's Project Award. She collaborated with her mother, Karen D. Vader, and her aunt, Alicia L. Walker, to honor Marion's legacy and continue her commitment to promoting childhood literacy in their community.
