Leon A. Waters is the chairperson of the Louisiana Museum of African American History (LMAAH). Mr. Waters is charged with the responsibility of implementing the mission of the museum: to conduct research, collect, preserve and document the true history of people of African Descent in Louisiana for the purpose of educating the public through lectures, exhibits, conferences, tours and digital media.

Along with his museum obligations, Mr. Waters is a licensed tour host who manages Hidden History Tours LLC - a publishing, touring, and research company. He is the publisher of the book: On To New Orleans: Louisiana's Heroic 1811 Slave Revolt, the largest slave revolt in the history of the United States. He is completing a new book - Domestic Terrorism on 3 Black Churches which will be released soon.

Lastly, Mr. Waters likes to summarize his work in this way:

"I have been working on the interface of social classes and mass resistance in a variety of forms. This includes an examination of social history that is "hidden history", social inequality, and resistance; the hidden voice of the buried former enslabed, and the political economic history of wars".
