Ghana is a nation which has benefited greatly from the efforts made by the WHO and other global organizations. It's taken vital actions to improve the health system, particularly the general level of health. However, there is still a lot of work to be performed to enhance the standard of healthcare delivery in the ground level. There are many organizations involved in providing health services in the community level, notably the Family Health Programmes that offers counselling along with other medical aid to the poor. The programme also works towards strengthening the community's reaction capability to crises, and co-ordinated applications directed at children's immunization, water and sanitation, and occupational health and security. There are also a variety of voluntary associations which focus on issues like AIDS, malaria and other diseases which affect the health of the poor and vulnerable.
The goals and objectives of the Ghana Health Declaration are still to be ascertained, but there are provisions for an open enrollment process that will enable anybody who meets the universal criteria to be covered. The declaration acknowledges the improvement of the health system will require a commitment from everyone and calls for increased collaboration among communities, government agencies, civil society and other organizations. This is going to be the initial step towards ensuring that all Ghanaians have the ideal health conditions and are given equal chance for treatment and care. The targets and goals also call for increased engagement of all stakeholders, and more collaboration among organizations to guarantee that the entire health system is going to be incorporated. The Ghana Health Declaration thus lays a strong platform for Ghanaian societies to tackle the problems of both treatment and prevention of severe health issues.
