Docomomo Hong Kong
Docomomo Hong Kong Chapter was established in August 2012 by a group of interested community members, each of whom is also affiliated with a number of the city’s major architectural educational and professional organizations, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), The University of Hong Kong (HKU), HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU-SPACE), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), and the Hong Kong Institute of Architectural Conservationists (HKICON).
Docomomo Hong Kong is committed to enhancing public knowledge about modern architecture and urbanism while promoting the protection of notable examples of modern architecture in Hong Kong. As a former British colony and active international entrepôt, Hong Kong absorbed, supported, and produced a number of important modern architectural influences over the course of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its built environment represents a unique site of inquiry in the international history of the Modern Movement.
