Bloom University
Bloom University provides trauma-informed, evidence-based training for all parents (biological parents, foster parents, and adoptive parents), caregivers, human service professionals, teachers, and other professionals or volunteers who work with children. All our training opportunities are designed to reflect best practices and standards of care for individuals working with children.
We currently offer a rotating schedule of programs and events that is open to the public, in addition to our Bloom licensed foster parents and Bloom Family Resource Center parents. Bloom parents receive complementary access to all courses.
Bloom University courses are taught by Katie New, EdD, LMSW, RN. Dr. New serves as Bloom's Clinical Director where she oversees the implementation of therapeutic services and programs, facilitates training of foster parents and staff, and ensures clinical fidelity to trauma-informed care. Dr. New holds a Doctorate in Education, Leadership and Learning from Vanderbilt University and a Masters of Social Work with Children, Adolescents, and Families from the University of Alabama. She is an advocate for children and has spent the last 17 years devoted to improving the lives of vulnerable children through her work.
