Lorie Loeb is a professor in the Computer Science Department at Dartmouth College. LORIE’s research resides at the intersection of design, technology and social entrepreneurship. Her work uses creative design and modern technologies to communicate in ways that change people’s behavior and draw attention to new ideas and ways of seeing the world. Lorie is a professor in the Computer Science Department at Dartmouth College, Director of the Digital Arts Program, and the Executive Director of the Digital Arts Leadership and Innovation (DALI) Lab. She is also the President/co-Founder of TellEmotion, Inc, a social enterprise that provides energy use feedback in ways that motivate people to conserve resources. Lorie is the recipient of the Fulbright and the Whiting Foundation Fellowships. Lorie is an artist as well as a technologist. Films she worked on won many awards, including two Emmy Awards and a Cine Golden Eagle Award. Films she animated have had screenings at the Museum of Modern Art, the Sundance Film Festival, the NY Film Festival, the London Film Festival and the Whitney Biennial.
Lorie was awarded the National Undergraduate Mentor of the Year award by the NCWIT (National Center for Women and Information Technology) in 2015 and was named one of the 10 most inspiring faculty members at Dartmouth by the class of 2009. She was a judge for the Global Social Venture Competition for SE Asia and works with the Young African Leadership Initiative to help social entrepreneurs develop their ideas. At the DALI Lab, students design and develop technology tools to help our partners communicate effectively and maximize impact.
