Bansa Community Library & Resource Centre
The Bansa Community Library, the first free community library in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, has quickly become a cornerstone of learning and community development. Since its inception in 2020, it has fostered a vibrant space for education and engagement, drawing enthusiastic participation from learners and readers of all ages. The library is an initiative of the Aruna Mithlesh Foundation and has been operational for three and a half years, serving around 36 villages and 40K population with over 1800 registered members with daily visitorship of 120 members.
The library’s primary mission is to provide essential resources and guidance for competitive exam preparation locally. Before its establishment, community members had to travel to distant cities to access such materials, which was economically challenging. By offering these resources free of charge within the village, the library has alleviated this burden.
In addition, the library aims to cultivate a culture of reading. Traditionally, reading has been associated mainly with academics in the region. The library seeks to change this perception, encouraging recreational reading and enriching the community's engagement with literature. Follow us on Instagram for updates @bansacommunitylibrary
