2023 marks the 300th anniversary since the death of Sir Christopher Wren - a mathematician, scientist and arguably the best-known British architect. His most famous buildings are at the centre of our national life and ceremonial occasions; they include St Paul's Cathedral, royal palaces, Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and 52 churches re-built after the destruction caused by the Great Fire of London.

To celebrate the anniversary of Sir Christopher Wren, and his extraordinary achievements, an exciting year-long project was launched and offered to all the Family of Schools (and extended).

The project involved pupils visiting the churches of St Stephen Walbrook and St James Garlickhythe in March to be inspired by the wonderful Wren architecture. They logged their reactions by writing poetry, created a collaborative art piece of the Walbrook dome and sang together as part of a choir. They also visited St Paul’s Cathedral in June where they were given a tour and a chance to sing under the magnificent dome. Finally, pupils will come together to rehearse and perform the specially written Wren-inspired songs at Guildhall to celebrate the entire project, as well as commemorate Sir Christopher Wren’s legacy.
