Women in the Watchtower

Location: The Watchtower at McHugh's

The Watchtower in McHughes' is where it's at on Friday 24th May when Messy Avocado headline a night celebrating women in music. With Alice Robinson, J4DED and Jill Ní Raghaillaigh.

Messy Avocado are six self-identified messers based in the Wee County of Louth, Ireland, who don’t take themselves too seriously - and they don’t live on avocados exclusively! Their edgy style is mainly influenced by alt-rock, with a dose of whatever-life-throws-at-ya. Their energetic and vibrant performances encourage audience participation and inject a mighty dose of craic and feel-good vibes.

Unapologetically authentic and laced with a heavy taste of dark humour, Alice Robinson is known for creating unique lyrical vocabularies in a style that drifts, often uneasily, from pretty and tender melodic lines toward dissonant cries of suppression and resistance. Accompanied by Kieran Harrington on double bass, this performance is sure to captivate audiences from first whisper to final surrender.

J4DED is an independent band comprising seven unique members that boasts equality and inclusivity pertaining to their various backgrounds and walks of life. Every member of J4ded has different tastes and styles in the music they enjoy and as a result their sound is influenced by a mixture of different genres.

Jill Fools is a mother, mentor, musician and muse. She is currently studying a HND in Music in DCFE.
