Women in Film: Our Voice, Our Stories, Our Tribe

This full day workshop is a chance for South West based women and non-binary filmmakers to explore the more vulnerable parts of filmmaking through a series of nurturing sessions with storytelling at their core.

We have gathered together session leaders who will be offering playful, exploratory and creative activities which will allow us each to dig deep into our personal motivations for our art, to explore our personal obstacles, and to encourage us to seek out and make deeper connections with our tribe. The workshop will include a masterclass by a special guest, and interactive group sessions on finding your voice, uncovering your story, and compassionate leadership.

Lunch will be provided.

Bring your most witchy, woo-woo, creative selves and a readiness to explore your art and career in unexpected ways!

Places are limited for this workshop so book your ticket before they all go!

Session Details

Voice Workshop - Jenn Singleton

This hour long session is designed to nourish, enliven, awaken our energies, ground us in our bodies and connect together in preparation for the day. Jenn will lead you playfully and rhythmically through singing games and songs in harmony - food for the whole body-mind-soul!

Jenn is a voice leader, singer and holistic therapist. She creates spaces that allow people to grow and to flourish. She leads choirs and works with community groups and with individuals, therapeutically and in a teaching capacity. She works mindfully with the body, voice and singing to promote well being

Beyond the mask - Al Powell

In this session we will move beyond our everyday masks, rediscovering our personal stories and finding our individual direction; culminating in building a spoken personal manifesto that will set us each on the path of our own true north.

This session involves lots of group and partner work and will be followed by breakout sessions where we work in smaller groups to work on our next steps and find a personal cheerleader to check in and support us over the coming weeks.

Alison Powell is a writer, creativity and life coach and founder of Write Club.

Compassionate Leadership - Elspeth Penny

Your ability to listen, and skillfully use your different ‘voices’ in talk, determines your success as a leader. Compassionate communication is an essential part of this. This session is an opportunity to consider what Compassionate Leadership might look like for us, including the skills we might need in place to sustain it. We will then work towards aligning with our own values, using tools such as Voiceprint; role-play, and other creative tools to find out which skills we’d like to polish, and how to do this.

Elspeth specialises in Leadership Communication Training and Communication Skills Training, empowering leaders and their teams to engage in better conversations and boost their confidence in communication. Elspeth’s 30 years of experience working in the public and private sectors, her specialism in the medical sectors, arts, and academia mark her out as a highly effective mentor, facilitator, and consultant. She runs ACE funded www.2BUProductions.org, writes and directs audio-drama and is currently creating a graphic novel.
