Leave the Center to discuss interpretations


Depending on weather and time, attendees will have the option to discuss their interpretation with the tour organizer over refreshments at a nearby park or cafe.

About the site

The Center for Tokyo Air Raids and War Damage is a privately run museum in the Eastern part of central Tokyo. While removed from popular tourist areas, the Center offers a comprehensive history of the context and technological developments which led to the devastating US air raids of the capital. The museum is notable for its expansive photographic collection of wartime Tokyo.

War Heritage Tours project

This tour is part of the War Heritage Tour research project, inviting English- and Japanese-speakers to war heritage sites in Japan commemorating the Asia-Pacific War. Join for an interpretive experience where you will get to see the many ways a war can be remembered.

As a research project, participants will be asked to complete a survey after the tour, as well as consent to anonymous audio recording during the tour. Please refer to the Participant Information Sheet for more information.

Note: there is a ¥300 entry fee to access the site.
