About this event

‘Constable’s Hampstead’ Walk & Talk Art & Art History guided Tour, London NW3, with art historian and art critic Estelle Lovatt FRSA.

Walk through Constable's masterpieces.

Follow in Constable’s footsteps, going back in time, to about 250 years ago, to see the houses where he lived, worked and painted his great iconic landscape masterpieces on the Heath, Hampstead, and around the NW3 London village, finishing with his family tomb, at the local church.

Estelle speaks to you, describing the story of Constable’s life, his parents, family, wife and children. His dislike of Turner and relationship with the Royal Academy. Painting ‘en plein air’ and ‘alla prima’, British Romanticism, Dutch Golden Age influences, inspiring future French Impressionism.

Bringing alive everything you wanted to know about Constable, and how he painted nature, the best clouds, rays of sunshine & double rainbows in art history.

Estelle brings a portfolio of images of Constable's paintings with, to show you, discuss, and illustrate where he painted them from.

Both a cultural fix and a healthy walk!

And if you want to draw where Constable sketched, bring your sketch pad and pencil.

Why not register for ‘Paint Hampstead Landscape’ and ‘The Sketchbook Tour’, as they provide an introduction to the landsacpe artist and his artwork, adding value to your appreciation of the painter, and the artworks you create.

This is an hour-and-a-half walk, over the Heath, with some steps to go up and down in the Village. Starting by Whitestone Pond and finishing in Hampstead Village, London, NW3. Rain or shine. Meeting 10 minutes before start time, for prompt start.
