Frequently asked questions
WALK ENGLAND are Guided or Self- Guided walks in England organised by a group of likeminded people. The walks are randomly chosen, and walkers just need to book a place, download the route map and turn up.
The walks are open to all age groups, however, under 16s must be supervised with an adult over 18. Pets are welcomed, but may need to be on a lead, collar or harness when passing through farms, near other animals, and/or in busy populated areas.
The Self-Guided walks are FREE, FREE, FREE, although you will have to cover the cost of travel to and from the start point. Occasionally, walks may join other walking groups which are GUIDED, and a minimum fee of £10 is charged by the Host group
Where walks are GUIDED, someone who is familiar with the walk, path, route and terrain will lead ALL walkers. For SELF-GUIDED walks, no leader is present and you are required to download the route map. One of our volunteer organizers will be available for these walks for support.
Please ensure you are wearing the appropriate clothing and footwear according to the terrain and the weather conditions. Walkers should also consider carrying a pack lunch, snacks and sufficient water, although there are some great Pubs enroute that do offer lunch for walkers with "Muddy Boots"
Please review the walk Distance, Gradient, and Level of Difficulty against your ability before you attend.
EASY-Relaxed mild walks with no steep uphill or down hill sections. MODERATE- Longer walks with mixed terrain and stretches of uphill climbs and descents. MODERATELY CHALLENGING-includes steep paths and hills and rough terrain. STRENUOUS- Routes can be very arduous or include trickier scrambling.
Yes. Places can be booked up to 2 days prior to each walk. Please contact the Organizer if you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. For safety reasons, a minimum of 3-4 persons are required per walk.
Walks may be CANCELLED due to trail closure or difficulty accessing trails, poor weather conditions, road closure or road works near the starting point, or any unforeseen extenuating circumstance. Updates will be sent at least 1 day prior to any WALK.
