About this event

Welcome to Un/learn & Enliven: Creative Movement Workshop & Nature Connection Circle! I'm Ester, and I invite you to join me for a morning of reconnecting with the wisdom of your ecological body through movement and creative encounters with place. This in-person event will be held at Holyrood Park. I will guide you through practices to connect to your body and the more-than-human world it belongs to. The tone will be playful and supportive.

Through movement and creative reflection in a sharing circle, we will deepen our relationship with the environment around us and cultivate a sense of ecosomatic reciprocity (don't worry if you haven't heard that term before).

No prior experience is needed.

[We will not move indoors if the weather is cold, rainy, or windy. Please wear appropriate clothing, bring a water bottle, and a notebook + pen.]

Inclusive of all bodies. 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ 🍉 🌏 ♥️

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have done something like this before?

No! You only need to be curious. :)

Can I join if I have limited/different mobility?

Yes. It will be your responsibility to move within the limits of your body, but there will be prompts and guidance on how to do this, and there will be no advanced structure to follow.

Can I bring my dog?

The purpose of this workshop is for you to deepend your awareness, perception, and presence with your body and the environment. Therefore, I advise against bringing any creatures you are responsible for along, since this will be distracting for you and for the group.

Will it be individual or group movement?

There will be options for both, and there is no requirement to move with or in contact with other people, unless you want to.

What is your background?

I am a conservation biologist-turned geographer-turned environmental movement researcher! I am currently completing a PhD in ecosomatic movement, which focuses on environmental movement practices and their capacity to be supportive for wellbeing and for strengthening the human–nature relationship.
