You are cordially invited to mark the opening of Belgium’s second Traditional Irish Music Festival at a special reception co-hosted by the Northern Ireland Executive Office and the Embassy of Ireland
on 7 June at 18h30
Over 6 days from 7-12 June 70 performers, dancers and music experts from Belgium, Ireland, Northern Ireland and across the world will perform live, showcasing the rhythm and soul of Irish traditional music.
We would be delighted if you could join us as a guest for this special event.
Opening Programme Highlights:
Photographic Exhibition by Samantha Hunt
Time: 18:45
Brussels based photographer Samantha Hunt has captured the spirit of last year’s TRADFEST in a collection of striking photographs.
Compánach
Time: 19:00
Compánach is a fast-moving, cross-media concert of traditional Irish music, song and dance. A unique concept, it links the narrative power and subtle judgment of the photographer’s eye to the genre-specific tapestry and aesthetic precision of musicianship.
Stonewall
Time: 20:30
Colin Slaine, Andrew Cornett, Warren Attwell and Kenny Qua together make up Stonewall Folk Group and hail from Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. Whistles, pipes, flutes, accordion, guitar, keyboard, percussion and four part vocal harmony create a wide variety of Ulster-Scots music and song.
Following the reception the first music pub session of Tradfest with Doreen Bourke and friends will take place at The Meeting Point (Rue du Taciturne 39, 1000 Brussels)
We hope you can be there and look forward to seeing you.
