Tom's "Professional Networking Event" returns, with a brand new venue!

After a year out, I'm really excited to say my annual festive gathering is back in 2024!

Even more excitingly, we'll now be hosted by Gigi's in Hoxton, which has capacity for an extra 250 people - and double the space will of course mean double the daftness.

What's All This About?

Back in 2021, to banish the blues of the Covid pandemic, I threw a birthday bash for me and some mates.

There was a raffle, a mariachi band, and nobody was allowed in without first unfollowing Rick Astley on Twitter (it's a long story).

There was also a life-sized ice sculpture of me, although I might have asked them to over-egg the old six pack a bit 🙃

After all, it was my birthday.

The party was so much fun that we decided to do it again the next year, with the addition of a DJ line up, an oompah band, and the mandatory wearing of party hats.

Obviously, there was some further Rick Astley bashing to get into the venue. This time you had to bring a picture of Astley from home and then put it through a shredder.

After a year out, which I spent developing a card game (watch this space 👀), the party returns in 2024.

There will be more DJs, more live music, and more highly daft things to do to keep you entertained throughout the evening.

It's also the first time that I'm opening the party up to professional connections on LinkedIn. That's right, this year the party will be a serious event for the business community.

Hang on, this just sounds like a normal party which you've decided to call a business event - possibly to impress your employer, in the hope of getting some sort of promotion and/or pay rise

No, that's not correct.

I've always been a firm believer in business, and the business community, and I'm excited to be putting on an event which allows us all to come together in the spirit of professional development.

Ok fine, so if I'm not a member of the 'business community' does that mean I can't come?

No - quite the opposite. Absolutely everybody is welcome*.

For starters, this "Professional Networking Event" represents an excellent opportunity for you to get your foot in the door with some of the UK's top employers.

Equally, the business leaders who are present might find it useful to gauge your consumer opinion on some of the hot button issues of the day.

So really, despite it being an event for business professionals, literally anyone can come.

*Except Rick Astley.
