Solo Performance with Molly Naylor

Working on your first (or second, or third) solo show? Thinking about taking a show on tour or to the Edinburgh Fringe? Interested in the form but have no idea where to start? Have a bunch of ideas but no idea how to turn them into a coherent piece of work?

Sounds like you're in the right place!

This dynamic, interactive workshop will help you start to develop an idea into a solo show, as well as provide an introduction to (or refresh your thinking around) how to structure it, perform it and then make people want to come and see it.

The day runs from 11am to 4pm, with short tea breaks and a proper lunch break. Participants are invited to take part in activities and discussions but are under no obligation to perform or share if they're not comfortable doing so. This session will take place on Zoom.

Throughout the day we will look at topics including:

Finding and developing ideas

Working with autobiographical material

Structure and theme

Funding, selling and producing

Future opportunities

About Molly Naylor

Molly Naylor is an award-winning writer and performer. Her first solo show Whenever I Get Blown Up I Think Of You debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe then toured internationally. Naylor went on to adapt it into a drama for BBC Radio 4. She also wrote and performed the sell-out My Robot Heart (produced by Show & Tell), and most recently Stop Trying To Be Fantastic (Summerhall, 2022). She has also written and co-created a comedy for Sky One, and her first feature film is in development. Her latest poetry collection Whatever You've Got is published by Bad Betty Press.
