Set 2 Masterclass: Introduction to Chemistry for Biologists

Masterclass leaders: Dr Sergio Dall’Angelo and Dr Wael Houssen (Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen)

This workshop will give the students an overview on:

1- Introduction to organic chemistry (Types of chemical bonds, functional groups and their chemical transformation)

2- Basic analytical techniques (NMR and UV spectroscopy, Mass spectrometry).

3- Chemistry of biomolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins and lipids)

No previous knowledge on these topics is required.
