About this event

Our next event - Active Imagination Meditation
This month's Salon for the Soul is focussing on guided imagination/meditation. It will start with a talk from Mary explaining how we can make use of our imagination for healing, and then she will guide the group through two exercises that aim to help people access the peace of their authentic self. Bring along with you a yoga mat, a blanket and your Salon for the Soul journal!

More about Salon for the Soul
Salon for the Soul is a community mental health event that takes place in the Haus of Haris Tyler in central Halifax. Participants are welcomed into the candlelit salon by psychological therapist Mary and Salon owner Haris and offered a hot drink and freshly baked delicious cake. Come join our community and explore mental health from the inside out!

Salon for the Soul is the brainchild of Mary and Haris. As a Hairstylst Haris is used to holding space for his clients, whilst also doing their hair. Haris’ clients know they can share their struggles and stories with him. A few years back Mary became his client and shared with him how she had spent all her career working as mental health therapist in specialist NHS mental health service. The two of them became instantly aware of the synergy they have for holding safe spaces for human to feel seen, cared for and understood.

When Mary left the NHS after 17 years in service to set up her mental health and wellbeing company Light of Mind, she was keen to create ways to make it feel safe, non-threatening and accessible for people to take part in healing conversations about how to connect with their innate health and soul self. Haris has also been passionate to make his salon a community space that is inclusive and non-judgemental and so together they created Salon for the Soul and host regular evening events on the salon floor that bring people together in a non threatening relaxed setting.

Each evening follows a theme and those who attend are welcome to make suggestions about topics they would like to explore.

The evening starts with a welcome from Mary and Haris, and then Mary shares a talk with optional exercises for people to experience their mental health and wellbeing. Participants are welcome to come along and sit quietly listening or to share. There are no expectations on anyone to do anything other than to bring their curiosity around how they can come into a personal relationship with their soul self and learn ways to care for themselves from the outside in and inside out.

Places are limited to 20 people per session and tickets are sold on a first come first served basis. Please be aware that once a ticket has been purchased, it is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a future event.
