About this event

As clinical professionals (counsellors, psychotherapists, hypnotherapists, etc.) we may be aware of some of the theory related to safe trauma therapy (such as the 3-phase trauma model or polyvagal theory), but it doesn't necessarily give us the tools to actually increase safety in the therapeutic room with clients. This training day aims to do just that.

We will cover a host of safety techniques, including:

* Using an anchor

* Window of tolerance

* Tapping

* Grounding Techniques

* Dual awareness

* Flashback Halting Protocol & Nightmare Protocol (with a brief reference to the Dream Completion Technique)

And many more.

We will also cover more complex trauma presentations, such as moral injury and dissociation, as safety techniques work slightly differently with these presentations.

This training is experiential in nature. This means you will have the chance to discuss and practice with some of the things we will be covering. The training is suitable for both student and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists, as well as related professions.

This Training Day can be taken on its own, or as the 2nd training day as part of the NCS Quality Checked 10-day Foundation Diploma - Therapeutic Safety in Trauma. It is taught 100% Online.
