Recovery through Activity online workshop
This 3.5 hour virtual training workshop introduces Recovery Through Activity and includes
the corresponding tools and resources from the workbooks.
Recovery Through Activity is an evidence-informed occupation centred
programme underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
Recovery Through Activity provides Occupational Therapists with a
valuable tool to support the use of their core skills.
It enables participants to recognise the long-term benefits of
occupational participation by exploring the value of a range of activities.
Aims
Participants will:
• Understand the concept and purpose of Recovery Through Activity
• Be introduced to the theory underpinning Recovery Through Activity
• Experience aspects of Recovery Through Activity
• Understand how to incorporate Recovery Through Activity as part of the Occupational Therapy Process
• Reflect on how and when Recovery Through Activity could be applied in practice.
About the presenters:
Una is a registered Occupational Therapist, who trained at Robert Gordon University in
Aberdeen and qualified in 2006. Una has over 13 years’ experience working in adult mental health on Community Mental Health Teams, Inpatient services and Rehab
and Recovery Mental Health Services in Ireland.
Niamh is a registered Occupational Therapist who trained in Trinity College Dublin and
graduated in 1997. Niamh’s career has included community care older persons
services, cardiac rehab and as a Regional Placement Facilitator. Niamh has worked for
the past 12 years in Community Adult Mental Health in Ireland.
Niamh and Una are passionate about Occupation Centred practice and have
extensive experience delivering occupation focused groups and 1:1 sessions.
Una and Niamh collaborated with Sue Parkinson on Discovery through Activity
when they adapted Recovery Through Activity for a virtual group using powerpoint.
Niamh also contributed to the second edition of Recovery Through Activity.
Una and Niamh are members of the Association of Occupational Therapists of
Ireland (AOTI).
