About this event

This is a 1 hour class for parents or teachers of young children in the pre-reading stage of education (3- 6 years of age for typical readers and later for children with reading disorders). It is appropriate for all children and contains material that can be used for children with or without reading disorders.

The presentation will take the form of an interactive class for parents. Material covered is listed below:

  • Introduction to reading disorders and their risk factors
  • Discussion of pre-reading skills, what are they and why are they necessary
  • Breakdown of the main pre-reading skills
  • Examples of practical activities for parents to use with children at risk for each of the skills
  • Time for questions
