I'm David, a passionate public-speaker and long-time Meetup organiser. These sessions have been fun 🎉 , challenging 💪🏼, and insightful 💡 since the first event in the Spring of 2021. Speaking in front of a live audience can be really daunting, but in this supportive sandbox environment, you'll learn what you need to do to make it easier for you. 👌🌟
During our sessions, you'll be given an interesting topic or question to speak to the group about for 3️⃣ minutes. Afterwards, I'll ask you what you thought went well and how you think it could be improved. Then, we'll take turns sharing feedback on what we thought went well and what could be improved. The best part is you'll be able to practice incorporating the feedback straight away! As your next turn will be soon... 👀
There will be a timer ⏰ on the screen during the session that everyone can see, which counts down during your speech to show you how much time you have left. ⏳ This helps us to end the speech smoothly and 'land the plane' at the right time and place. 🛬
🌟 All skill levels are welcome! Whether you're a seasoned speaker or just starting out, we encourage you to join us. Our environment is inclusive and supportive, and we welcome people of all backgrounds and abilities.
