In celebration of National Nature Reserves Week 2024, Natural England (Wyre Forest NNR Team) are holding a series of guided walks in the Wyre Forest to look at the wildlife and talk about some of our management practices.

This walk will be hosted by local bird specialist and Worcestershire County Bird Recorder, Craig Reed, to guide us on a walk to experience the magical dawn sounds during this year's breeding bird season.

*All are welcome and the cost is free; booking is essential. Please note due to the limited numbers we have set a limit of two tickets per booking.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing is required though a pair of binoculars and a notebook and pen might be useful. Please bring your own refreshments.

What do I need to wear?

Clothing should be suitable for light walking in the forest. The terrain can be slippery and uneven, so good walking or wellington boots should be worn. Participants should wear warm clothing for the cold early morning and pack some waterproof clothing in case of rain.

Where will we be meeting?

The walk will begin at Drymill Car Park. Participants should arrive and park at the car park at Drymill Lane (OS Grid Ref: SO7723 7626 or What3Words///growth.mimics.imparts). The car park is listed on Google Maps, search for Drymill Lane Car Park, Bewdley.

When time will it start?

Please be ready to start the walk at 6am on the day of the event (Monday 20th May 2024).

Are there any accessibility issues?

The walk will follow the old railway line and open tracks in the forest. The terrain will not be especially difficult or hilly, but may be boggy, slippery or uneven in places, please let us know in advance if you have any particular requirements or concerns.

Can I bring my dog?

No, sorry as much as we love dogs, this event is not appropriate for dogs. If you need to bring an assistance dog, please let us know.

Are there toilet facilities on route?

Sorry there are no facilities at Drymill Car Park or on the walk.
