Mental Health First Aid Refresher Training
Designed for MHFAiders® or Champions who have completed the Mental Health First Aid course, MFHA England advises a Refresher every three years.
During this 4-hour session, experienced trainer Beth Goodyear will cover key topics such as:
- Identifying signs of mental health issues
- Offering initial support, and
- Guiding individuals towards appropriate professional help
MHFA England provides continuous support for MHFAiders®, well beyond your initial certification, to ensure confidence and empowerment in carrying out the role.

Your trainer for this course is Beth Goodyear. A professional trainer with over 26 years of experience managing teams and providing training to 1,500+ people a year. Since becoming an MHFA England Instructor, Beth has trained over 1,000 people in the MHFA England half-day, one-day and two-day courses.

To join the course, click the MS Teams link that will go live 10 minutes before the start. Upon connecting, you'll enter a 'virtual waiting room' and join the session when the training begins.
MHFA England is the only provider of licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training in England. For further details, check out: www.mhfaengland.org
The course is 4 hours with regular breaks. During the course there will be individual work and a few group exercises, but nobody will be put on the spot to speak if they don’t want to. All participation is voluntary, and you can contribute as much or as little as you like!
The session will involve both group discussions and individual/group exercises. At times the issues discussed can be emotive and challenging, therefore participants can choose to excuse themselves from group discussions or exercises at any point.
There is no end-of-course test but to successfully complete the course, full attendance is required.
Participants receive: A workbook featuring a valuable toolkit for personal mental health support; A MHFA certificate of attendance; 24/7 digital support through the MHFAiders Support App®; Access to the MHFAiders® community for 3 years.
