Mental Health Awareness training
This is an introductory four-hour session to raise awareness of mental health.
It is designed to give you:
- An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
- A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining well being
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue
Format
- 4-hour course delivered face-to-face or online
- Immersive training session, led by an instructor
- Opportunities to practice embedding skills through group activities and discussions to share best practice
- The course is delivered to a maximum of 25 people
Meet your trainer Beth Goodyear!
Your trainer for this course is Beth Goodyear. A professional trainer with over 26 years of experience managing teams and providing training to 1,500+ people a year. Since becoming an MHFA England Instructor, Beth has trained over 1,000 people in the MHFA England half-day, one-day and two-day courses.
Beyond FMHS Consulting Ltd, Beth has expanded her community impact, offering free mental health awareness training to 200+ individuals, and earning local TV and radio recognition. She volunteers with Action for Happiness and serves as an associate trainer for various organisations.
Through FMHS Consulting Ltd, Beth delivers professional and practical training solutions that are inclusive, engaging and that leave a lasting impact.

To join the course, click the MS Teams link that will go live 10 minutes before the start. Upon connecting, you'll enter a 'virtual waiting room' and join the session when the training begins.
MHFA England is the only provider of licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training in England. For further details, check out: www.mhfaengland.org
The course is 1pm-5pm with regular breaks. During the course there will be individual work and a few group exercises, but nobody will be put on the spot to speak if they don’t want to. All participation is voluntary, and you can contribute as much or as little as you like!
The session will involve both group discussions and individual/group exercises. At times the issues discussed can be emotive and challenging, therefore participants can choose to excuse themselves from group discussions or exercises at any point.
There is no end-of-course test but to successfully complete the course, full attendance is required.
Participants receive: MHFA manual and workbook; A MHFA certificate of attendance
