About this event

  • 3 hours 30 minutes

In celebration of May Day, Rosa Lux warmly invites you to a magical evening of ecstatic dance and cacao ceremony in Coed's beautiful and atmospheric temple.

May Day is a European festival of ancient origins that marks the beginning of Summer. In Gaelic culture, this was known as Beltane. Beltane means ‘bright fire’ or ‘lucky fire’. One of four annual Celtic fire festivals, Beltane is celebrated in honour of the ancient Celtic sun and healer God, Belenus. It represents the height of Spring, when Nature in all her glory is bursting with life, the land covered in flowers, the trees in full blossom, all is growing and flourishing. Traditionally, at Beltane the Lady of the Land takes the hand of the Horned God, symbolising the integration of male and female aspects of our self, one of the primary goals of spirituality and psychotherapy, alchemizing our souls and bringing us to wholeness. Our May Day dance journey and ceremony will be inspired by these themes.

I lovingly create an exquisite and peaceful atmosphere to welcome you and relax you, delighting your senses with gentle music, fresh flowers, candle light, and the finest Frankincense from the deserts of Oman. To begin our ceremony, we will come together in sacred circle for cacao. As we imbibe this heart-opening sacred plant medicine together, we will connect with our intentions for our dance. We will then embark on our ecstatic dance journey, with luscious melodies and deep grooves from around the world to inspire and uplift us. After our dance we will be bathed in soothing sounds, carrying us gently into deep rest. We will come back into circle for a grounding meditation to close. Afterwards we'll have some herbal teas and fruit, and gather around the fire under the stars.
