Join us for a lecture - “Looking and tasting good – some thoughts on foam and beer stability” - by the world renowned brewing scientist and author, Charlie Bamforth, Distinguished Professor Emeritus from the University of California, Davis!

In addition to the talk, we will hear from the younger members of the section who have attended the IBD study tour in Ireland with the help of an IBD Grant.

Drinks will be available to buy from 6pm in the Chapter Hall.

  • Dr Charlie Bamforth, University of California, Davis. Distinguished Professor Emeritus

Dr. Charlie Bamforth is an eminent figure in brewing science, having held prominent positions in academia and industry in a career spanning four decades. Popularly known as the ‘Pope of foam’, he has also authored numerous books, articles, and papers, and has been recognised with prestigious awards from various organisations, including the IBD Horace Brown Medal. He has been actively involved in education and mentorship within the brewing community. Currently working as a Senior Quality Advisor at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Charlie continues to publish work that advances our knowledge of beer and works to make brewing more accessible to a wider audience.
