Why are there time slots for the tickets?

This is to help prevent overcrowding, and to stay within the capacity limit for the venue. So the timeslots wont be strict, so long as we aren't hitting capacity limits. (max. 20 in the room at one time)

Do the symbols next to the different ticket options mean anything?

No, those were simply put there to help differentiate the different timeslots so as to hopefully make it less confusing looking.
