About this event

  • 2 hours

Let's Play Maths! New Stay and Play sessions for families in ABSS wards to explore early maths together.

Are young children naturally good at maths? Discover the answer and empower your child with early maths skills! Join us for a play filled session for 2 - 4 year olds.

Why attend?

Young children can establish the building blocks for later maths success through their play. Learn more about fun, hands-on play activities that build a strong foundation for your child's future learning.

Fits easily into busy lives, with activities which are designed to be simple and zero-low cost.

Connect with other parents/carers, learning alongside you!

  • Multiple dates available throughout 2024, with the first session on 26 January 2024.
  • Creche is available for children during the first hour of the workshop while parents/carers engage in inspiring maths activities with our Maths Specialist Project Lead. The second half of the session brings parents/carers back together with their children to engage in maths together.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my child with me?

Yes! However, creche is available for the first half of the session so adults can explore maths with our Maths Lead, while children play in creche. Due to this, we must have advance booking and may be in contact for more information about your child so we can appropriately support.

Can I join without my child?

Yes! Adults can come along to learn more with our Maths Lead and can observe other children and parents playing in the second half of the session. Adults attending without their children can also spend the second half of the session chatting more with our Maths Lead

What age does this session cater for?

This session is targeted at children aged 2 years and up to their 4th birthday. However, do let us know if you have a younger child and would like to attend a "baby maths" session.

Who do I speak to if I have any other questions?

You can email earlymathsmatters@gmail.com to speak with Maths Lead, Elaine Taylor-Brown, or a member of the Project Management team at ABSS (A Better Start Southend).

What is an ABSS ward?

ABSS works with families in 6 key wards around Southend. You can find out if you live in one of these wards by checking your postcode on our website: www.abetterstartsouthend.co.uk - "Our Areas." We are unfortunately unable to deliver these workshops for families living outside of these areas.
