Are you a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter (RSLI/TSLI) looking to expand your skillset and offer a wider range of services to your clients? If so, why not consider learning Irish Sign Language (ISL)?

ISL is the sign language used by the deaf community in Ireland and is distinct from BSL. Learning ISL can be a valuable addition to your skillset as a BSL interpreter, allowing you to better serve clients who use ISL.

To get started, consider attending an "Introduction to Irish Sign Language for BSL Interpreters" CPD session. This session will provide an overview of ISL, its syntax, and basic vocabulary, allow you to appreciate the differences between ISL and BSL.

In addition to learning the technical aspects of ISL, you'll also gain a better understanding of Irish deaf culture and customs. This will allow you to provide a more culturally sensitive and appropriate service to Irish deaf clients.

By expanding your skills to include ISL, you'll be able to serve a wider range of clients and provide a more comprehensive and inclusive service as a BSL interpreter.
