Discussions will focus on the international influences on arbitration in Scotland. The speaker for this event will be Mr Brandon Malone, FCIArb FRICS, Advocate, Barrister, Arbitrator and the Ex-Chair person of the Scottish Arbitration Centre.
Abstract:
The recent history of arbitration law in Scotland, prior to the coming into force of the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010, concerned domestic cases for the most part. This seminar will examine past attempts to internationalise arbitration in Scotland, and the development of the law and practice of international arbitration in Scotland since 2010, including the establishment of Scottish Arbitration Centre. The seminar will also consider Scotland’s place in the international arbitration world, and opportunities for Scottish practitioners to become involved in international commercial arbitration and treaty based international arbitration.
This seminar will take place in a hybrid mode.
