This evening's band is formed of close friends and musicians from some of the UK's most beloved Greek groups, including Amalgama, The Rebetiko Carnival Musicians and Plastikes Karekles. They come together several times during the year to perform this very special project dedicated to the great icons of Greek music, Theodorakis, Hadjidakis and Xarhakos.
Between them the musicians have performed at festivals in the UK, Greece and elsewhere, including Italy, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Spain. In the UK they have performed at Purcell Room, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, St David's Hall as part of the Proms, King's Place, as well as more intimate venues such as the Green Note, Vortex and the Forge, London. The musicians are also the founding members and at the heart of the Rebetiko Carnival, a biannual, one month festival in June with Rebetiko music at its heart. They are dedicated to exposing this treasured music to as many people as possible as well as carrying out outreach work in schools, special needs communities, hospitals and prisons.
