'I Just Can't Stop Worrying..': CBT Techniques to Support Clients Presenting with Excessive Worry

Date: 20th July 2024

Time: 1pm - 5pm

Location: Cherry Tree Centre Henley

Join us for a hands-on workshop focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients dealing with overwhelming worry.

Many therapists have experienced the challenge of supporting clients who are deeply entrenched in their worries, where reason and logic alone prove insufficient to alleviate their distress. This can leave us feeling disheartened, de-skilled, and as if we are a useless therapist - or maybe that's just me!

This workshop delves into the complex world of worry management. It is crafted to enhance your understanding of how cycles of worry and anxiety persist and to equip you with effective Cognitive Behavioural interventions to support your clients to break free from worry.

This workshop will include:

• An introduction to the evidence-based CBT treatment protocols and formulation for managing Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and persistent worry.

• An exploration into the nature of worry, distinguishing clearly between constructive and detrimental types, and understanding their impact on mental health.

• Practical CBT strategies to empower therapists in aiding their clients. This includes worry postponement techniques, attention training exercises, methods for clients to become more comfortable with uncertainty and more.

• Opportunities to engage in active learning through opportunities to apply these techniques within the workshop environment, facilitating skill development through practice.

Emphasising the development of your worry management skills, this workshop aims to empower you to implement these techniques confidently in your practice, thereby fostering significant and lasting change in the lives of your clients. Please note that the implementation of interventions should be supported with appropriate supervision.
