How to make buildings fully accessible: listen, respond and push for change
To design spaces that are welcoming to all it is critical to listen first to the people most likely to feel excluded.
Architects listen, but do they listen soon enough? Who else needs to listen to the voices of neurodiverse communities, people with disabilities, and cultural minorities? Collaboration is key but our recent roundtable showed that we need to expand the circle further.
In our LFA panel session we bring together a designer, a psychologist, a building regulator and an accessibility expert with lived experience, to discuss these questions, and consider how investing in accessibility isn’t just a matter of compliance but is an opportunity for innovation, social benefit and competitive advantage.
We will hear their stories and their views on how to unlock progress. The audience will also be warmly invited to share their experiences and ideas. We aim to collate a three point plan to ensure that listening also turns into action.
