This event is hosted and run by a trio of fully qualified medical herbalists, all having achieved a degree in herbal medicine and insured to practice. Keen and enthusiastic to share their knowledge and experience with the general public, they host events, workshops like this, wild medicine walks, and monthly herb club meetings to empower people to use medicinal plants in their daily routines.
Join us for our seasonal summer workshop to find out more about the plant life that grows all around us and how it can benefit and support our health.
In this workshop we will learn about traditional remedies that can be made from summertime herbs. How to forage, use them fresh, and look at the best methods for drying them. We will start off by discussing the role and benefits of Western Herbal Medicine, our native herbal plants, and best ways to use them safely. Then after some herbal tastings we will roll up our sleeves and make our own traditional herbal remedies to take home and put to good use.
The exact remedies you will make on the day will be confirmed nearer the time as it depends upon what plants are available at the time of the event. However, it is likely to include the blending of your own herbal infusion, a herbal tonic or wine, and a either a spray or natural salve for summer health issues, or a herbal syrup. All the herbs and ingredients will be provided, plus handouts so you can recreate these recipes at home for benefit of friends and family. All we ask is that you bring along some clean small jars and bottles to use for your products. Light refreshments will also be available.
