HEartS Summit 2024

Join us for this special two-day HEartS Summit event as we delve into the future of the creative workforce and its intersections within the growing field of creative health. Taking place across Friday 6th and Saturday 7th September 2024, this event offers attendees a unique opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, hear from industry experts, and contribute to the development of policy in arts and culture.

Both the HEartS (Health, Economic, and Social Impact of the ARTs) and HEartS Professional projects investigated the transformative power of arts and culture on health and wellbeing alongside the health and wellbeing of creative professionals.

This summit will explore how relationships between these two areas might be strengthened, leading to the development of practice and policy to support the future of the creative workforce.

Impact and themes:

The aim of the HEartS Summit event is to create a lasting legacy for our research, providing space for all stakeholders to engage creatively and collaboratively on pathways to policy implementation and cultural change across the sector. Organisations and public interest groups previously engaged with the project as part of the policy consultation phase will participate in roundtable discussion, enabling a comprehensive and inclusive approach to shaping the future of creative health.

The HEartS Summit event will focus on two main themes:

1) Future of the Creative Workforce: Exploring the evolving landscape of the creative workforce, enabling the collaborative development of strategies for a sustainable future.

2) Strategy for the Future of Creative Health: Investigating the interlinked outcomes of creative health and the future health of the creative workforce leading to the development of actionable strategies for cementing project findings within policy and practice.

Attendance:

This summit is open to professionals from all sectors, including artists, performers, educators, researchers, healthcare providers, policymakers, and anyone passionate about the intersection of arts and health and professional practice. Whether you're a seasoned expert or a newcomer to the field, your unique perspective is valuable in shaping our collective future.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Guest Speakers: Hear from esteemed guest speakers, workshop leaders, and performers invited from a range of fields, including healthcare, creative industries, and third sector partners. Gain valuable perspectives and expertise from disciplines such as theatre, dance, music, literature, and visual art.
  • Roundtable Discussions: Participate in a series of presentations and roundtables led by project partners The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Musicians’ Union, Equity, the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM), and CW+. These discussions will focus on implementing HEartS policy recommendations, with themes covering mental and physical health, building healthy artistic communities, inclusive practices in arts and wellbeing, and co-creating a strategy for the future of creative health.
  • Thematic Workshops: Engage in interactive workshops themed around the HEartS project's work packages: Everyday HEartS, HEartS for Health, and HEartS in Practice & Policy. These workshops will provide valuable insights and practical tools for professionals across disciplines.
