About this event

Healthy soil, healthy grass, resilient farm

Come join us at Askrigg for an exciting event.

The morning session will be an introduction to soil health, discussing its importance to farming in the YDNP by Ian Bell from NS Regen . Covering topics such as soil organisms, structure, dealing with compaction, water infiltration, resilience to wet and dry weather, regenerative techniques.

Following a free lunch AivaFertilser will talk about grass nutrition and health, how to use a balanced mix of trace and macro nutrients, stimulants and amendments in place of traditional NPK fertilisers.

Aiva quote "Grassland nutrition is not too dissimilar to that of cereals except the concern is not only for the nutritional status of the crop for yield & quality but also of the animals which will eat it as their primary food source. Nutritional amendments can be made direct to the crop to provide an increased level of trace elements along with the macronutrients in line with known deficiencies or stock health issues. Nutrition can also be tailored to enhance animal uptake and utilisation, reduce selective grazing, and minimise the use of mineral additives to feed."

Whilst the event is free, registration is essential.

Event funded by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Farming in Protected Landscape grant.
